This position supervises respective desktop analyst(s) and student worker(s). The System Security Supervisor’s role is to ensure the optimal and secure operation of all computer systems, servers, and network connections. This includes checking server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic, backups, establishing and updating virus scans, and troubleshooting. The position will also analyze and resolve systems and security breaches and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion and conduct user activity audits where required. The System Security Supervisor manages workload and approval of payroll for systems technicians and student workers as assigned.

The successful candidate will play a key role in extending and shaping SOWELA’s existing information systems technology program. This person will teach 15 hours per semester, with the possibility of overload and the possibility of overseeing interns. Summer course availability may be an option. The successful candidate will be skilled and competent in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures; rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; perform a variety of tasks; may lead and direct the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected; participates in professional development, training, and stays current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning; and encourages students to earn industry-based certifications as they are made available. Applicants with areas of specialization including programming, mobile app development, database, operating systems, and information systems management, will be considered. Experience in one or more of these areas is required. The successful applicant will hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the discipline. A master’s degree is preferred. Certifications in one or more of these areas are preferred.
