The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) serves as the chief academic officer of Ferris State University (FSU) and provides leadership in promoting and accomplishing the mission of the University. The VPAA is involved with all aspects of FSU in the oversight, development, coordination, and implementation of academic goals, programs and educational policies; is leader and an advocate of faculty and students; promotes a collegial atmosphere in the University community; encourages shared governance, academic freedom, academic responsibility and academic innovation; prepares budget recommendations; reports to the President and is a member of the President's executive team; collaborates and coordinates with the team of Vice Presidents to lead and advise all aspects of the institution including enrollment. The Provost and Vice President Is responsible for the following areas: College of Arts, Sciences and Education; College of Business; College of Engineering Technology; College of Health Professions; Kendall College of Art and Design; Michigan College of Optometry; College of Pharmacy; University College; Extended and International Operations (Corporate and Professional Development, Graduate Studies, Statewide, Online, International Education); Ferris State University Charter Schools; Curriculum, Assessment and Accreditation; Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
Part-Time Dining Services Big Rapids, MI 49307
Dining Services is seeking hard working individuals to join a team of professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service. Several positions classified as part time continuing are available to assist in providing support in our retail, catering and residential food service operations, working up to 28 hours a week. Duties vary and could include greeting customers, processing meal plans, cash and credit card transactions utilizing a point of sales system, assisting with food production and service of food as needed. Individuals in this position will be exposed to all food types (ex. shellfish, peanuts, & fruit) in an environment where industrial strength cleaners are used. Work hours may vary, and you may be required to be on-call, work evenings, weekends and holidays. Required: High school diploma with GED equivalency. Demonstrated history of effective interpersonal communication, teamwork, and providing cheerful customer assistance.
Adjunct Instructor - Geography Big Rapids, MI 49307
The Social and Behavioral Sciences Department in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education seeks applicants to provide instruction for a variety of face-to-face and online Human Geography courses on the Big Rapids, MI campus. Needs vary from semester to semester and may include introductory courses in World Regional Geography, Cultural Geography, Geography of US and Canada, and Geography of Michigan as well as other upper-level courses as determined by instructor qualification and departmental needs. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. For in-person or hybrid teaching positions: Courses are to be taught in person on Ferris State University's Big Rapids Campus. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. For 100% online teaching positions: Courses are to be taught online. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan*, Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, or Wisconsin after acceptance of employment. Please note, if you relocate after being hired to a state not listed above, your employment at Ferris will not continue. (*If you reside in Michigan, the position will be part of the Ferris Non-Tenure Track Faculty Organization - FNTFO, except for DCCL and clinical adjuncts in the College of Health Professions, Pharmacy, and the Michigan College of Optometry). Adjunct Instructor - Clinical Faculty (Part-Time) Big Rapids, MI 49307
Provide in-person clinical teaching and patient care at the University Eye Center campus clinic (Big Rapids). The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to provide clinical education on a semester-by-semester basis. Compensation for the position is determined by degree held, residency, experience and certifications. See Tiered schedule information: Tier 1 ($53.97/hour) Optometry (O.D. Degree) without Residency; and 2 years' experience Tier 2 ($61.97/hour) Optometry (O.D. Degree) with Residency; and 3 years' experience; and Fellowship (FAAO, FOVDRA, etc.) or equivalent certifications Tier 3 ($69.97/hour) Optometry (O.D. Degree) with Residency; and 5 years' experience; and Fellowship; and national professional organization lectures/posters and/or other published works. The anticipated start date is September 2025 and remains ongoing as needed. Required: At the time of appointment, the applicant must hold the Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree. At the time of appointment, the applicant must have or be eligible for a Michigan optometry license with DPA and TPA certifications for appointment to the college's clinical staff. At least one year of residency experience or have at least 2 years in patient care work experience.
Adjunct Instructor - Computer Information Systems Multiple Locations
The candidate will teach a broad spectrum of undergraduate Computer Information System classes as needed. Classes may include: programming (Java, Python, etc.), database design/ implementation/ administration, web development, systems analysis and design, and ERP (SAP) systems. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The anticipated start date is August 2025 at the earliest or January 2026 at the latest. Required: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field, OR Master's degree in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology. Candidates with appropriate certifications and relevant teaching experience are preferred. Three years of industry experience in IS or IT related field with direct experience in one of the areas to be taught.
