| Summary of Position: |
A position classified as a Temporary Dish Machine Operator is available with Dining Services at The Rock Café. The normal working hours for the fall semester (beginning the week of August 16th) are 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off. The current summer schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, with Friday and Saturday off. The exact duration of this temporary position is undetermined at this time, but it will not exceed one year. The employee may be required to work other times, including evenings and/or weekends. If required by job duties, employee must be able to fulfill the University’s requirements concerning issuance and use of University keys. Personnel who possess the special qualifications and training necessary for this position may apply. Provide food services support by preparing and serving food, waiting on customers and maintaining assigned area.

| Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Assist other food service workers as needed.
Clean assigned areas as needed: sweeping, mopping, washing walls, filters, and hoods.
Clean, polish, and maintain dish room equipment.
Communicate with management staff and Cook regarding food waste.
De-lime dish machine as required.
Ensure that dishes, racks, stands, and carts are clean and sanitized.
Interact with customers and staff in a polite, friendly, and courteous manner.
Maintain soap supply area in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.
Monitor operation of dish room equipment such as garbage disposal, dish machine, soap dispenser, etc. and take corrective action when appropriate.
Perform the work of other Dining Service classifications when assigned.
Pre-scrape and pre-rinse eating and cooking utensils; sort silverware; and fill, operate, load, and unload dishwashing equipment.
Train and direct the work of assigned student employees.
Transport clean silverware, dishes, trays, etc. to dining room.
Maintain safety and sanitation standards in all duties and responsibilities.
Report to immediate supervisor.
Train and direct the work of assigned student employees in the performance of the characteristic duties.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with university policies and applicable laws.
Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |

Remove trash, break down cardboard boxes, and assist in the University recycling efforts.

Follow safety and sanitation standards and practices.
Operate and clean dish machines and related equipment.
Read, understand, and follow directions, safety labels, equipment operations manuals, etc.
Wash pots, pans, and utensils; return clean pots, pans, and utensils to appropriate storage area.
Work harmoniously with others in variable temperatures, close confines, noise, and stressful situations and workloads.
Work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to push/pull carts weighing a maximum of 125 pounds.
Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic, and life experiences. |
