Summary of Position: The Human Resources Associate is responsible for consistently delivering a broad range of HR support while administering policies, processes, procedures, and programs across payroll, employment, and labor relations.
• The Human Resources Associate must be committed to providing superior customer service and value, while working with a diverse constituency.
• The incumbent is expected to be responsive, excel at problem-solving, and possess the ability to multitask in a high-volume department.
• To be successful in the role, the incumbent must have demonstrated strength in communicating effectively, timely, and professionally.
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, and attention to detail is required.

Required Education: Associate's degree in business with a Human Resources emphasis or related field.  
Required Work Experience: • At least one year of recent work experience in or related to Human Resource processes and activities.
• Demonstrated proficiency with technology and the ability to perform job functions using MS Office Suite.
Work experience in an office environment that is fast-paced and with a high volume of transactions.
Work experience assisting others on a daily basis.
Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and in a timely fashion

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: BA degree in Business or Human Resources.
• Specific experience in administering policies and programs covering several or all of the following areas: payroll and employment.
• Experience with complex data analysis.
• Experience in a higher education or union environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in HRS systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Banner HR.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Answer a wide variety of Human Resources-related questions and work to resolve employee concerns efficiently and accurately.
Explain and interpret Human Resources policies and procedures.
Enter employee personnel actions into the HRIS system daily.
Perform HR functions, including data collection, data entry, and reporting.
Verify information is audited.
Review and process employee information across various systems.
Prepare various reports as needed.
Perform audits under the supervisor's direction.
Perform recordkeeping functions for employee information and maintain accurate records.
Responsible for adherence to and knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of employee information.
Work cooperatively with a variety of employees, vendors, and departments.
Provide excellent customer service; assist others in resolving problems.
Support the maintenance, reconciliation, and audits of HR data.
Perform other related duties and functions as assigned.
Carry out responsibilities in accordance with University policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all University and employee information.
Consistently demonstrate high standards of responsibility with integrity by supporting FSU's mission, vision, and core values.
Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.      Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.                  Serve as backup for other HR staff.
Assist with other HR functions.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

 
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Assist as needed in the office.
Ensure documents are current, up to date, and available to employees.
 
Skills and Abilities: Strong working knowledge of HR systems.
Communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, in a timely manner.
Exhibit extraordinary discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, and willingness to work cooperatively with the HR team and Ferris employees, vendors, and departments.
Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Ability to learn and understand the complexities of bargaining unit contracts.
Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic and life experiences.
