| Summary of Position: |
The Social and Behavioral Sciences Department in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education seeks qualified candidates for a tenure-track position in Sociology. The successful candidate will instruct general education and programmatic Sociology courses in various areas of Sociology, including both introductory and upper-level courses in keeping with department needs and candidate expertise. Additional responsibilities include advising students in the Sociology minor; contributing to the department, college, university, and profession through participation on committees and other forms of service or scholarly activity; and participating in appropriate, ongoing professional development.
Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.
The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026. |

| Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
• Instruct face-to-face and online introductory and upper-level Sociology courses, in keeping with candidate expertise and department needs • Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically. • Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. • Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. • Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in university committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (i.e. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment. |
