Summary of Position: |
The Director of Student Academic Affairs, as the chief retention officer for Ferris State University's Kendall College of Art and Design, will ensure effective performance of all administrative activities within the College associated with recruitment, admission matriculation, guidance, and graduation of students. The successful candidate will work with diverse students, faculty and staff; assess and evaluate student academic progress; plan, organize, and meet deadlines. The anticipated start date for this position is September 2025, however, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. The candidate for this position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Oversee processes related to admission standards, enrollment, probation, dismissal, and graduation. Coordination and support of advising processes within the college. Serve on University and College Committees including but not limited to: DSAA Council & Academic Leadership Council. Maintain the confidentiality of designated information. Work with institutional research and other sources to develop relevant reports that will inform on student academic progress. (i.e.: enrollment, retention, persistence, graduation). Liaise with Academic Affairs, EIO, Student Affairs, Student Financial Services, Financial Aid, Office of International Education, Admissions, and other colleges in the university. Provide oversight and assurance of consistency for all KCAD representations related to off-campus programming (e.g., transfer guides, articulation agreements, curricular equivalencies, etc.) Coordinate and supervise the registration process. Work directly with students on academic concerns when warranted (e.g. advising related to specific situations such as probation, dismissal, appeals). Coordinate/serve as Dean's designee for academic probation, dismissal, appeal, and reinstatement processes. Ensure effective performance of all administrative activities within the college associated with recruitment, matriculation, guidance, registration / de-registration, students’ academic process, graduation, or other issues related to student enrollment (prospective, or on-going) on- and off-campus. Coordinate and support College participation in recruitment activities. Report to the Dean of Ferris State University's Kendall College of Art and Design. Coordinate, participate in, create, support, and direct retention initiatives and activities. Serve as chief retention officer for the college. Coordinate the student complaint and appeal processes. In conjunction with programs and departments, assure student academic support and advising are appropriate and consistent for all locations and delivery modes. Coordinate and collaborate with the Director of Student Life and other staff engaged in student support services. Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |
