Summary of Position: |
Provide responsible, non-routine, independent office support functions involving recordkeeping, customer service, bookkeeping and data entry. Communicate and perform duties that provide excellent service and is responsive to customer needs. |

Required Education: |
High school graduate, GED, or equivalent, plus at least one year of college coursework.

Equivalency for education is two years of full-time related work experience equals one year of education. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Contact offices, outside agencies, students, vendors, etc., regarding accounts, records, payments, etc. Coordinate activities with other employees and departments, schedule events and rooms, authorize building access. Independently prepare, maintain and/or interpret various records, correspondence, documents and files. Input, send, retrieve, maintain, download and merge data utilizing a computer to access mainframe and/or software programs and systems. Interview, recommend for hire, train and direct part-time employees. Interview, direct and train lower level bargaining unit employees. Investigate issues, research and compile data, prepare reports, resolve and respond to discrepancies and customer problems. Refer customers to other staff if needed. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state regulations and handle material in a confidential manner. Perform any/all duties in the Student Service Representative 1 position description. Prepare, send, receive, analyze and interpret a variety of student documents ensuring completeness and accuracy. Provide various records, monitor release of information, compose correspondence. Purchase and distribute supplies, determine office inventory needs. Register and adjust student schedules. Review various student materials and files and process according to established guidelines. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with university policies, and applicable laws and regulations. Maintain confidentiality of designated information. Report to immediate supervisor. Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically. Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives. Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: |
Provide back-up assistance for other positions and perform routine office support duties. |
|
Skills and Abilities: |
Ability to interview, hire, direct and/or train others in the performance of the characteristic duties. Communicate effectively with a diverse customer population. Operate office machines and specialized equipment such as computer, copier, calculator, letter folder, printer, to include making minor adjustments (requires some mechanical aptitude). Perform basic mathematical and recordkeeping duties with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Plan, organize and make sound judgments and decisions. Understand and maintain current information concerning special terminology and regulations. Use computer software and mainframe programs and systems. Utilize analytical skills to discern and resolve issues, produce complex reports, etc. Utilize the rules of proper grammar, correct spelling and punctuation, and proper arrangement of information. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. |
