Position Summary:

This position will serve as a mental health counselor for students and as the primary coordinator for the activities planned in the SAMHSA Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Campus Suicide Prevention grant program. In addition to providing short-term individual counseling with students this position will coordinate activities that include outreach, programming, data collection, mental health support training for students and employees, and community partnerships.

The GLS Campus Suicide Prevention grant is expected to last for 3 years. This is an externally-funded position that is contingent upon continued grant funding. Externally-funded positions are subject to at-will employment policies as well as applicable sponsored program provisions and conditions.

Essential Functions:

• Provide short term individual and/or group counseling with students.
• Manage a dynamic case load of students with on-going and immediate needs.
• Provide outreach, education, programing, and training as defined in the SAMHSA grant proposal.
• Support collaborative relationships with community partners.
• Collaborate and provide consultation with CWI offices, committees, and staff as needed.
• Document, organize and manage client records in accordance with professional standards and applicable laws.
• Abide by applicable professional ethical standards and laws.
• Participate in data collection on counseling services and campus wide programs.
• Participate on college committees as needed.
• Convey by words and action the values expected by CWI.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensed/license-eligible in the State of Idaho to independently practice as a mental health professional (LPC, LCPC, LCSW, etc.)
• Four years of experience working in social services or similar position within education.
• Experience with mental health provision in a post-secondary setting, with an understanding of student development preferred.
• Experience planning and implementing events
• Experience in crisis intervention and assessment.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills.
• Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
