Position Summary:

Adjunct faculty members teach contracted classes in accordance with established policies and guidelines. To reach a broad range of students, CWI encourages exploring alternative teaching styles and methods. Courses will be taught in traditional classroom settings, in computer-mediated classrooms, and over the internet. This position includes classes taught in the evenings/weekends and when necessary, at the College's off-campus centers.

Instructors at CWI are expected to focus on mastering disciplinary content, developing and strengthening their ability to prepare and present instructional materials, and assessing student performance. Instructors are focusing on inclusive student-centered pedagogy and familiarizing themselves with the college, its resources, systems, and departmental curriculum in order to facilitate student success and persistence across the student lifecycle. Professional development at the rank of instructor focuses on student achievement. Instructors are engaged in the institution in areas where their participation and skill set has the greatest potential to impact the success of students.

Essential Functions:

• Teach the Linux courses for the CSIT Departments' various programs in accordance with the descriptions published in the CWI catalog
• Utilizes outcomes assessment measures
• Participates in instructional evaluation processes
• Meets all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels
• Demonstrates sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
• Develop lesson plans and teaching aids, using appropriate instructional technology
• Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
• Assess student outcomes and provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students
• Monitors student placement in courses and student progress; maintains accurate records
• Complete professional development and in-service activities in accordance with college standards
• Maintain expertise in the subject area and suggest improvements in curriculum design, as needed
• Participate in Departmental and College meetings as prescribed by the supervisor
• Conveys by words and action the values expected by CWI
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Preferred 3 years of industry experience acquired by full-time, successful employment in the applicable field. Teaching experience, especially at the community college level preferred, but not required. CWI can develop the successful candidate as an Instructor.
• Must currently hold LPIC, CompTIA Linux+ or equivalent certifications or be able to acquire such before beginning instruction.
• Preferred CISCO CCNA or better and have experience with one of the following: MCP, A+, Net+, Server+.
• Must be willing to obtain CISCO instructor certification.
• Industry affiliations preferred.
