Position Summary:

CWI is seeking a Contracts Manager to join the Office of General Counsel. The Contracts Manager serves as the main point of contact for day-to-day contract preparation and administration. The Contracts Manager provides redlining, negotiation, business guidance, issue identification, and escalation to supervising attorneys for all departments and administrative units at the College. The Contracts Manager demonstrates excellent customer service as a representative of the College’s legal team for the timely and efficient administration of fiscally responsible and legally compliant contracts, operating within a centralized contracts management system. The Contracts Manager ensures proper execution of the College’s contracts and monitors the contract lifecycle, including amendments, terminations, and renewals, using an electronic contract management system. The Contracts Manager interacts professionally with local vendors and community members, ensuring that the College is provided with the goods and services necessary to advance students’ educations and careers.

 

Essential Functions:

• Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate contracts.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal law, CWI policy, federal grant requirements, insurance and indemnification provisions, and state contract terms, escalating legal issues to supervising attorneys as necessary. This position is not responsible for procurement of goods and services but must possess a working knowledge of public bidding requirements.
• Ability to administer a broad range of contracts, including professional service agreements, purchase orders, software agreements, construction agreements, real property leases, affiliation agreements, practicum agreements, consulting services agreements, and a wide variety of educational services agreements.
• Work independently and assess when to seek guidance of supervising attorneys.
• Regularly provide training to project managers and other employees on contracting practices and procedures, standard terms and conditions, and mitigation of risk.
• Coordinate contract approval and enforcement of delegations of authority as needed.
• Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures for the efficient administration of contracts.
• Collaborate across a wide spectrum of College business partners, including executive administrators, new faculty and staff, and student clubs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5 years’ experience in contract management preferred.
• Experience with an electronic contract management system.
• Knowledge and understanding of contractual terms and conditions
• Excellent research, writing, editing and interpretation skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Prior work experience in higher education preferred.
