Position Summary:

The INBRE Internship program will allow students to develop biomedical skills and explore local job employment opportunities. Students will be placed within a local biomedical-based facility, where they will engage in authentic research. The internship will culminate with the design of a scientific poster which will be presented at a research conference.

INBRE interns will primarily report to their host mentor and the INBRE campus program leader. INBRE interns will secondarily report to the Dean of Math and Science.

Essential Functions:

• Must commit 400 hours of work over the internship period of May 20 - July 26. Hours will be M-F, approximately 9 AM - 5 PM.
•Must attend/complete all INBRE-related training and seminars scheduled during the summer.
•Will engage in biomedical-based work functions
•Must attend and present a poster of your summer research at the Idaho INBRE Summer Research Conference, July 29 - August 1, 2024, at the University Inn Best Western in Moscow, ID. (conference fees and travel expenses to be covered by INBRE)
• Must agree to any additional requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations, background checks, or current driver’s license, which may be required by the specific host agency.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled at CWI at the time of application. Dual-credit students are not eligible.
• Prior to beginning the program, students must have taken an in-person college-level science course with a laboratory component.
• Must be eligible to work within the US and meet all NIH employment requirements.
• Must be 18 years of age or older or meet host facility age requirements at the start of the internship.

 

Additional Instructions for Applicants:

The internship positions are community-based and will not actually take place on the Nampa Campus of CWI. Please indicate in your application which internship opportunity you are most interested in The Genetics and Infectious Disease Lab at BSU or The Eagle Fish Genetics Lab. Would you be willing to work at either facility or are you only interested in your top choice?
