The Network Engineer III is a senior-level technical position responsible for the design, implementation, operation, security, and reliability of the UWF enterprise campus networks. This advanced position plans and oversees the architecture and performance of wired and wireless LAN/WAN networks, enterprise VPNs, edge firewalls, and related network services. Duties include configuring, installing, and maintaining network hardware and services across the main campus and remote sites; managing network IP addressing and VLAN design; supporting and securing data center network infrastructure, power systems, and fiber plant; and administering core network services such as DHCP and RADIUS. The Network Engineer III also plays a key role in network security by implementing and monitoring access controls, firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS systems, and participating as an active member of the ITS Security Team. In addition, this role provides advanced troubleshooting, problem resolution, and real-time support of major and critical systems, and could be expected to mentor and guide other network staff to ensure effective knowledge transfer and continuous improvement of network operations.
