About the role
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of contracts, ensuring effective oversight, compliance, and performance. You’ll work closely with contract owners across departments, offering guidance on procurement planning and contract management to support the City’s strategic sourcing goals. You’ll help ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, support efficient contract execution, and identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to building capability by mentoring team members and promoting best practices.

Classification: Band 8 Commencing at $118,486 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitor a portfolio of contracts, ensuring effective oversight, compliance, and performance.
- Provide expert procurement planning and contract management advice to internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the City’s strategic objectives, procurement policies, and relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks.
- Build and maintain strategic stakeholder networks to support the City’s procurement objectives and contract performance.
- Monitor compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory obligations, proactively identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies to ensure responsible procurement and contract governance.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused team culture through knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and inclusive practices.
- Model ethical, transparent, and accountable procurement behaviours to build trust and uphold governance standards.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in procurement, contract management, supply chain management, legal, or a related field, and/or significant professional experience in procurement and contract management within a comparable organisation.
Essential Experience:
- Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, policies, and practices, including public sector procurement frameworks, probity, and governance requirements.
- Proven experience in procurement strategy development and supporting contract managers to achieve value-for-money outcomes.
- Proven ability to enhance specification design by providing input and implementing quality assurance processes to ensure specifications are effective and fit for purpose.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills, with the ability to evaluate complex procurement and contract management issues and provide well-informed recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence, and align diverse interests through clear writing, presentations, and discussions.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure contractual, legal, and regulatory compliance, proactively identifying and mitigating procurement risks.
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
