The Opportunity

Join the Monash Remote Food Systems program and contribute to research addressing food security in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Based in Darwin and associated with the Menzies School of Health Research nutrition program, this Research Fellow position offers the opportunity to contribute to a Commonwealth Government food security initiative and an NHMRC-funded project on climate change and food security in remote Australia.

The role will lead the co-design and delivery of an evaluation of a remote food security program, working closely with the program organisation and other stakeholders to coordinate engagement, establish a reference group, manage ethics processes and lead data collection, analysis and reporting. The position will also contribute to a collaborative case study with remote communities in Queensland and the Northern Territory, helping translate community-led research findings into evidence to inform policy recommendations and strengthen the research capacity of partner organisations. Travel to remote communities will be required.

We are seeking someone with relevant qualifications at honours or doctoral level, depending on the appointment level, together with demonstrated research, analytical and evaluation skills and experience preparing reports and publications. Strong proficiency in research and analytical software such as NVivo and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively is essential. Extensive knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research principles is also required.

Join a collaborative research team and contribute to meaningful work supporting food security, community-led research and policy development in remote Australia. We look forward to receiving your application.

Please state your preference for Level A or Level B in your cover letter as the successful applicant will be appointed commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
