The Opportunity
Join Monash University as an Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer and make a leading contribution to research and education in developmental biology. You will bring expertise in developmental biology, reproductive health or stem cell biology, advancing research excellence while delivering outstanding teaching across developmental biology, histology, Biomedical Science, postgraduate programs and medical education. At Level D, you will provide recognised disciplinary leadership and distinction; at Level C, you will make a major contribution to research, scholarship and teaching.
This position will be responsible for delivering engaging lectures, tutorials, practical classes, seminars and workshops; developing and coordinating high-quality curriculum, learning materials and assessment; and supporting effective teaching teams and student learning. You will supervise honours, postgraduate and PhD students, and contribute to postgraduate training. You will also lead and undertake original impactful research that generates high-quality publications, attracts competitive external funding and aligns with the department’s culture and priorities. You will play a significant role in research engagement and team leadership, while contributing to the broader academic community. At Level D, you will additionally provide substantial leadership through mentoring, course coordination, and discipline-building activities nationally and internationally; at Level C, you will demonstrate strong research leadership and contribute actively to departmental and faculty planning.
To be successful in this role you will have a doctoral qualification and significant experience in developmental and cell biology and/or reproductive health, with a strong record of high-quality research publications, external research funding and postgraduate supervision. You will bring demonstrated excellence in teaching developmental biology and histology, including curriculum and assessment development and course coordination, alongside strong interpersonal, collaborative and mentoring skills. Level D candidates will additionally demonstrate distinction in their discipline, significant leadership, a sustained record of research funding and scholarly achievement, and the capacity to mentor colleagues and lead the discipline. Level C candidates will demonstrate emerging or established research leadership and a strong capacity to lead research projects and teams.
