The Opportunity
Join the Grant Group to investigate the molecular and functional mechanisms underlying congenital heart defects through multidisciplinary research. This position will use human stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte and cardiac organoid models to investigate cardiac development and function, combining experimental cardiac electrophysiology with genomics and bioinformatics approaches. The role will contribute to the design and delivery of defined research projects, with opportunities to develop new experimental and analytical approaches within a collaborative research environment.
The position will involve conducting research with limited supervision, contributing to collaborative projects and disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications, preprints, conference presentations and seminars. Research activities will include advanced laboratory techniques, cardiac electrophysiology, genomics data analysis and experimental design, alongside mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students and providing research-related advice. The role will also contribute to the broader activities of the research group, including meetings, limited teaching and the development of research-related materials.
We are seeking someone suited to research in a relevant discipline supported by a master’s degree and/or progress towards a doctorate, or a doctoral qualification in a relevant or closely related field. Demonstrated expertise in human stem cell models, cardiac electrophysiology such as patch-clamp recordings, and bioinformatics analysis of genomics datasets such as scRNA-seq will be important, together with strong analytical, manuscript preparation, communication, planning and organisational skills.
Join the Grant Group and contribute to research advancing understanding of congenital heart defects — we look forward to receiving your application.
