The Opportunity
Monash University is looking for a creative, energetic and experienced Events Manager to lead the design and delivery of a vibrant program of events and experiences that bring our Australian campuses to life. From large‑scale moments like Orientation and Open Day to innovative pop‑ups, cultural activations and student‑led experiences, this role shapes the heartbeat of campus life and helps students feel connected, welcomed and inspired.
Sitting within the Campus Engagement and Culture portfolio, the role drives the creative direction, experience design and strategic planning of a multi‑campus events program informed by contemporary engagement trends and the ways audiences choose to connect, participate and experience campus life.
A key part of the position is leading a small team of talented Event Coordinators, fostering a collaborative, creative and high‑performing environment that delivers high‑impact events and activities throughout the year. The role champions innovation, continuous improvement and student‑centred design across all programming.
Responsibilities span end‑to‑end event management, covering concept development, project planning, logistics, budgeting, supplier management, risk oversight and on‑the‑ground delivery. The position also provides expert advice to senior leaders, contributes to policy and process development, oversees reporting and data analysis, and builds strong partnerships across the University and with external providers to elevate the student experience.
The role suits an experienced events professional who thrives on momentum, creativity and bringing bold ideas to life. With strong creative instincts, excellent organisational skills and a deep understanding of how audiences connect and participate, the successful candidate will shape engaging, contemporary event experiences in a University setting. They will demonstrate confidence in leading teams, navigating diverse stakeholder environments and delivering a high‑volume program with impact and precision. Highly developed communication, relationship management and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities, budgets and high-volume programming. You will also bring strong analytical capability, customer service excellence and confidence providing authoritative advice to diverse stakeholders
