The Opportunity
Looking for a high-impact role to anchor your expertise in a world-class research environment?
Monash University’s Transfusion Research Unit (TRU) is an internationally recognised research powerhouse. We are the forces behind the NHMRC Blood Synergy program—addressing critical evidence gaps in blood cancers, major haemorrhages, and critical care.
We are seeking an execution-focused Program Manager for a fixed-term leave replacement to step in and seamlessly drive our operations forward. Currently driving or contributing to 8 active clinical trials, we need someone who can hit the ground running to oversee operations steamline processes and keep a dedicated team on track.
If you are a high-level project manager who thrives under broad direction and enjoys full ownership of complex portfolios, this is your next move.
- Support the conduct of clinical trials, including staff training, project monitoring, data collection, analysis, preparation of results/reports, and investigator communication.
- Assist with managing operations across the research unit, including monitoring assigned tasks to ensure clinical trials milestones are reached.
- Manage the implementation of improvements across the trials group, including streamlining processes, practices, and developing templates for unit-wide use.
- Source and assign trials resources, support procurement tender processes, and negotiate/manage contracts with external providers.
- Undertake research and analysis on current clinical practices to devise solutions and provide practical, expert advice to senior leaders on trials-related issues.
- Exercise strong budget management for the unit's clinical trials in partnership with the Operations Manager.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with investigators and key project stakeholders by networking, liaising, presenting information, and coordinating/attending meetings.
About you:
You are an operational strategist. You understand the compliance realities of clinical trials but approach them with a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset. Because this is a leave replacement role, your ability to quickly assimilate new concepts and establish immediate credibility is crucial.
The Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualifications (or progress toward them) with extensive experience, or an equivalent high-level combination of training and management expertise.
- A proven track record of successfully steering medium-to-large-scale projects through to completion on time and on budget.
- Exceptional planning skills with experience establishing priorities, shifting resources, and meeting tight deadlines.
- Highly developed relationship management and negotiation skills to effectively interface with diverse stakeholders.
- Advanced computer literacy and experience working with clinical trial systems and software platforms.
