The Opportunity
The Manager, Perioperative Medicine Platform Trial (PROMPT) plays a pivotal leadership role in advancing one of Monash University’s flagship clinical trials platforms. Supporting the Departments of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and Infectious Diseases, this position provides strategic and operational leadership to drive the successful delivery of PROMPT’s research strategy, oversee complex trial operations, and enable world-class clinical research that improves patient outcomes in Australia and internationally.
This position will be responsible for leading the operational management of a large, multicentre clinical trials platform spanning more than 50 hospitals across Australia and internationally. Working closely with the PROMPT Co-Chairs and senior investigators, you will support major research grant applications, contribute to strategic planning, and lead complex administrative and operational functions aligned with university priorities. You will oversee budgets, risk, compliance and quality assurance processes, while driving continuous improvement across systems, policies and service delivery. The role will lead and develop a high-performing team, manage significant strategic projects, coordinate high-level reporting and research analysis, and foster strong partnerships with investigators, clinicians, business units and key stakeholders to support the continued growth and success of the platform.
To be successful in this role you will have postgraduate qualifications and extensive experience in clinical trial management, with a proven track record of leading large, complex, multicentre or platform trials. You will bring exceptional leadership, strategic planning and organisational skills, alongside experience managing high-performing teams within complex environments. Your expertise will include research governance, quality systems, risk management and regulatory compliance, complemented by outstanding analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience with adaptive trial designs, international research collaboration, grant development and working effectively with investigators, clinicians, statisticians and sponsors will position you for success in this influential leadership role.
