The Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations and Planning Manager, this senior role provides strategic leadership and expert advice across facilities, space and infrastructure planning for the Monash Business School. You will work closely with academic and professional stakeholders to ensure facilities and space services support the Faculty’s teaching, research and precinct objectives, while aligning with University strategies and regulatory requirements.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will lead space planning and facilities governance frameworks, oversee contractor and service provider performance, contribute to capital works and business cases, and manage significant budgets and resources. This role is focused on strategic oversight and continuous improvement, rather than day-to-day operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the strategic planning, governance and continuous improvement of facilities, space and infrastructure services
  • Providing high-level, authoritative advice on space planning, building utilisation, refurbishment and capital work
  • Developing and implementing best-practice frameworks, policies and service models for facilities and space management
  • Contributing to strategic planning, business cases, capital submissions and executive reporting
  • Overseeing budgets, contracts and service provider performance to ensure value for money, safety and compliance
  • Building strong partnerships across the University and with external consultants and service providers
  • Providing leadership and guidance to staff and contributing to a collaborative, outcomes-focused culture

About You

You are a highly experienced facilities and space planning professional with a strong strategic mindset and the confidence to operate in a complex, large-scale organisation. You bring demonstrated experience influencing senior stakeholders, managing budgets and contracts, and leading facilities governance rather than hands-on operations.

You will also have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
  • Proven experience in strategic facilities and space planning within a complex environment
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience preparing business cases and executive-level reports
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety, sustainability and inclusive practices
