Monash Velos Accelerator is an accelerator and incubation hub affiliated with the Victorian Heart Institute, designed to translate health‑sector innovation into scalable, investable solutions. Velos delivers accelerator programs, incubation, entrepreneurship training, and industry‑led collaboration in close partnership with Monash University and the broader health innovation ecosystem.

Monash University is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to play a mission‑critical role in the growth and success of the Monash Velos Accelerator, a flagship initiative that accelerates the translation and commercialisation of health innovations, with a strong focus on cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic diseases.
This is a high‑priority appointment offering the opportunity to sit at the intersection of research, industry, investment and impact, and to directly influence how breakthrough discoveries move from lab to market.
Why this role matters
As Senior Business Development Manager, you will:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for business development across the Velos Accelerator
- Build and leverage senior‑level relationships with industry, investors, health systems and government
- Drive large‑scale partnerships, commercial deals and funding opportunities
- Lead Velos’ position as Australia’s accelerator of choice in cardiovascular‑kidney‑metabolic innovation
- Work closely with senior academics, Monash Innovation, Faculty business development teams and external partners
- Influence the commercialisation of Monash's intellectual property and support future venture investment
This role combines strategic autonomy, executive-level engagement, and real‑world impact, with responsibility for shaping sustainable growth, partnerships and commercial outcomes.
About you
You are a senior business development professional with:
- Extensive experience leading complex commercial, partnership or innovation initiatives
- A strong track record in industry engagement, deal‑making and large‑scale funding bids
- Confidence in engaging with senior academics, executives, investors and government stakeholders
- Deep understanding of research commercialisation, IP and innovation ecosystems
- Strategic mindset combined with hands‑on execution capability
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications, or an equivalent combination of senior‑level experience and training
Experience in health, biotech, medtech, innovation, venture, or research‑intensive environments will be highly regarded.
