Within the School, the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC) is a world-leading methods centre driving large-scale clinical research in critical care. From sepsis and traumatic brain injury to mechanical ventilation and ECMO, ANZIC-RC’s work has shaped intensive care medicine across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished and motivated Synergy Manager to join the ANZIC-RC and contribute to the advancement of The ICU SYNERGY.

The ICU SYNERGY aims to improve personalised, value-based care and patient outcomes in critically ill patients with specific aims including the:

  1. Generation of new knowledge to address national critical care research priorities.
  2. Expending Australian research capacity and infrastructure to improve patient-important outcomes.
  3. Support value-based care in new Synergies across multidisciplinary inter/national research.
  4. Assistance in the translation of knowledge into practice, lead guidelines and improve cost-effectiveness as well as evaluate practice change, patient-important outcomes and resource utilisation,

Working closely with Prof Carol Hodgson and the ANZIC Research Centre staff, you will lead and support the aims of the ICU SYNERGY Program. You will play a key role in developing and supporting interventions, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting high-quality publications and competitive funding applications in key streams.

Specific streams include

  • Improving Models of care and outcomes after SEPSIS
  • Prevention and treatment of Acute Renal Injury
  • Improving outcomes of Acute Respiratory Failure

This is a unique opportunity to influence real-world health within the critical care environment as well as health systems nationally and internationally.

Key responsibilities include

  • Contribute to strategic planning and the achievement of program, unit and University goals in area/s of specialisation
  • Leading and contributing to research publications, grant proposals, and conference presentations.
  • Direct and conceptualise programs of research and analysis in areas of specialisation, including making recommendations and co-ordinating regular high level business reporting
  • Supervising and mentoring research staff and students.
  • Enhancing the national and international reputation of ANZIC-RC through high-impact research and stakeholder engagement.

About You

You are an innovative researcher with demonstrated leadership and research excellence. You thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments and are passionate about translating evidence into policy and practice.

Experience in intensive care, sepsis, or life-threatening infection research will be highly regarded.
