The Opportunity

Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) is seeking a dynamic Public Program Officer to join our team. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the Director, Gallery Manager, and curatorial staff to develop an annual program of innovative and rigorously researched public programs and experiences.

You will drive public engagement linking ideas running through the artistic program to create exciting programs that involve our valued campus and external audiences. You will develop and deliver a diverse suite of programs encompassing floor talks, closing events, film screenings, podcasts, symposia, keynote lectures and student focused experiences.

You will play a pivotal role in fostering connections with Monash staff, students, alumni, arts enthusiasts, and the wider public. Additionally, you will forge new partnerships within Monash and the broader arts industry, and nurture existing relationships to enhance the visibility of MUMA.

Beyond the University, you'll engage with the local community, enhancing attendance, visitor experience, and engagement with the Museum while promoting MUMA programs and the Monash University Collection as a valuable educational resource.

About you

Collaborative spirit is key as you'll work closely with all MUMA staff along with artists, curators, academics, and other cultural influencers to cultivate an inspiring roster of innovative public programs.

As the successful candidate you will possess a strong foundation in the contemporary visual arts sector, excellent communication skills tailored for diverse audiences, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.

Exceptional organisational skills, a network of professional connections within the visual arts communities, and a commitment to excellence in customer service are essential attributes we value.
