The Opportunity
Monash University is excited to announce a prestigious opportunity for an exceptional academic to shape the next frontier of theoretical quantum physics—the fundamental research driving tomorrow’s quantum breakthroughs.
We invite applications for a Level B or Level C (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) appointment, seeking a visionary physicist with an outstanding research record in one or more areas of theoretical quantum science, including:
- Quantum computing
- Quantum information
- Quantum communication
- Quantum sensing
- Quantum optics
- Quantum materials
- Quantum energy
This is a rare opportunity to establish and grow a world-class research program at the heart of Monash’s growing quantum technologies ecosystem. We are especially keen to attract candidates whose work complements and enhances the activities of our Quantum Light, Information, Matter and Electronics (QLIME) group.
As part of the vibrant and collaborative QLIME team—spanning both theory and experiment—you’ll be immersed in pioneering work across atomically precise materials, semiconductors, metamaterials, nanomaterials, polaritonics and cutting-edge quantum theory. Our theoretical physicists develop novel models and mathematical frameworks to explore the most complex behaviours of quantum systems—driving the development of transformative technologies.
At Monash, academics at the Lecturer (Level B) and Senior Lecturer (Level C) levels play a vital role in advancing research, delivering high-quality education, and contributing to a collaborative academic environment. You will have the opportunity to develop your independent research program, supervise students, and engage with interdisciplinary teams—helping to shape the future of quantum science while growing into a leadership role.
Monash University and the Faculty of Science are deeply committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We embrace inclusive recruitment practices and apply achievement relative to opportunity principles in all hiring decisions.
If you’re ready to lead a pioneering research program and make a lasting impact in quantum science and technology, we encourage you to apply.
