The Opportunity

Monash University’s Marketing Admissions and Communications Division is recruiting for a Senior Manager, External Affairs and Communications. 

The Senior Manager will play a key role in enhancing the University’s reputation by delivering strategic institutional messaging and managing high-impact projects across major audiences and communication channels. Through the development and execution of comprehensive strategic corporate communications, this role ensures alignment with the University’s priorities. The Senior Manager will also foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, safeguard the University’s reputation, and actively pursue opportunities for service improvement, innovation, and operational excellence in communications. This includes driving strategic positioning and messaging that resonates across diverse platforms and audiences.

To be successful in the role, you will need to have:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-level strategic advice and communications on corporate, reputational and issues management

  • Demonstrated experience in proactively and reactively developing, implementing and managing communications,and reputation management strategies

  • Proven expertise in leading, developing, and delivering communications and strategic projects

  • A strong track record of managing large, complex, organisation-wide initiatives through to completion, including implementation and change management. 

  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships, influence and negotiate effectively, and senior-level consensus. 

  • Experience in journalism, corporate affairs and/or government relations is highly desirable
