The Opportunity

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions on various platforms that make up the entire student management ecosystem at Monash, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Ellucian, Salesforce, and MuleSoft. This role provides technical leadership, ensuring best practices in software development, integration, and quality assurance.

The specific focus of the Senior Software Developer is providing complex software development expertise to deliver digital solutions that meet the business needs of the new student management ecosystem across the various functions of the University in the current phase of the Student Management System Transformation (SMST) Project expected to be completed by December 2026.

The Senior Software Developer also contributes to the strengthening of capability and embedding of best practice software development within the Portfolio by influencing approaches and work practices and encouraging adoption of recognised models.

The ideal candidate will have;

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures; languages such as Java, Python or Node.js.; API development; data handling technologies such as SQL, NoSQL; DevOps and CI/CD pipelines with the ability to learn and develop on new SaaS platforms.
  • Experience in designing and implementing data models that support transactional integrity, functional configurability, and performance with demonstrated skills in front-end frameworks to build user-facing extensions with a strong understanding of UX/UI best practices to enhance usability.
  • Familiarity with workflow and case management-based business solutions with substantial experience in the delivery of quality software development and construction practices, including front and back end development on SaaS based platforms.
  • Highly developed relationship management and consulting skills, including the ability to mentor, influence and negotiate with a variety of customers and stakeholders
  •  Ability to work with design systems and accessibility standards and quickly understand business requirements and translate these into well-engineered solutions.
