The Opportunity

Join Monash University as a Level A Research Engineer in Chemical and Biological Engineering

As part of Australia’s #1 Engineering School, you will be at the forefront of impactful research, working on projects aimed at near-to-intermediate term practical applications. Your work will directly contribute to fulfilling the goals of the Monash Strategic Plan Impact 2030, addressing critical global challenges.

In this exciting role, you’ll be involved in a diverse range of research projects, collaborating with leading experts in the field and working both in our state-of-the-art laboratories at the Clayton campus and at client sites across Australia. You will engage in research that spans fundamental studies to applied work, with a strong focus on industries that drive sustainability and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in bioprocessing, waste processing, and critical minerals processing.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Engage in both laboratory-based work and field research at client sites.
  • Contribute to the development of new processes and technologies for practical application.
  • Assist in the advancement of Monash’s research profile and support the faculty’s strategic goals.

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is renowned globally for its research excellence, with key focus areas including biotechnology, food, process modelling, nanomaterials, CO2 utilisation, and more. You’ll be joining a team committed to pushing the boundaries of engineering knowledge and creating solutions with real-world impact.

The position is available for two years initially, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and ongoing funding.
