We are looking to recruit a Superintendent (Ballast Cleaning Production) based in either Rockhampton or Mackay. Reporting to the Manager of Mechanised Production, you will provide strong safety leadership while optimising productivity and driving continuous improvement.

In this role, you will lead a diverse, 24/7 team operating on the Central Queensland Coal Network. We're seeking an individual with technical knowledge of rail, on-track machinery, or extensive rail experience. However, it’s your ability to lead high-performing teams that will truly set you apart.

Key accountabilities include:  

  • Safe, cost effective execution of Ballast Cleaning Production daily operations
  • Optimize the utilization of the plant and staff to ensure that services are delivered to contracted obligation at world class performance levels.
  • Leadership of a diverse team that is geographically dispersed.
  • Build and maintain Customer relationships with existing and potential new clients.
  • Lead and set priorities around scheduled & unscheduled, response and emergency requirements for the CQCN

About you: 

We’re looking for someone with line leadership and excellent communication skills, along with proven experience in problem-solving and managing employee performance. While experience in the below rail industry is highly desirable, it’s not essential—your leadership abilities and willingness to grow with the team are what matter most.

  • 5 years Supervisory/Management experience
  • High level of, interpersonal, stakeholder relationship and communication skills.
  • High level of skill in managing a broad range of asset management activities, supply chain logistics and operational safety issues.
  • High level of financial management skills
  • High level of skill in the implementation of change management strategies.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and autonomously as required
