Telecommunications Project Engineer/Officer

Location: Brisbane / Mackay / Rockhampton

About the role: As part of the Control System engineering team, you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the telecommunication works associated with External customer and Asset renewal projects across Aurizon’s rail network. While working with project managers, internal staff and contractors, you will plan and execute the construction, testing and commissioning of telecommunication works for both new and existing installations.

responsibilities will include but aren’t limited to: 

  • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with clients and stakeholders to create project plans covering scope, services, risk management, cost plans, and schedules. Serve as the main contact throughout the project to ensure smooth communication.
  • Methodology Development: Collaborate with construction teams to design methods for project and asset management. Plan resources, estimate costs, and arrange pricing. Coordinate the procurement of materials and resources.
  • Risk Analysis and Management: Assess potential risks related to cost, safety, environment, and quality. Incorporate these into project plans and make sure risks are allocated correctly in contracts.
  • Project Monitoring: Track project progress, budgets, and timelines. Make necessary adjustments and manage changes in project scope, cost, and schedule as needed.
  • Resource Management: Organize project resources to meet client needs efficiently.
  • Project Inspections: Conduct inspections to ensure projects are on track during planning, monitoring, and finalization stages.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure that all work follows Australian Standards and company guidelines.

About you:

  • Sound communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in project planning, budgeting, and resource management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Advanced diploma in Engineering or equivalent approved qualifications
  • Over 5 years of technical experience
  • Deep understanding of rail asset management, infrastructure construction, and safety standards.
