Job Summary: The Associate Director for the School of Nursing provides leadership to ensure students have a positive learning experience that results in competent professionals who will fill the local and regional workforce needs. The Associate Director will engage the faculty in continuous improvement planning which includes development, implementation and evaluation of all instructional systems consistent with the School philosophy and CCNE accreditation standards. The Associate Director will also be responsible for overseeing the student success function of the School of Nursing, which includes student preparation for national certifying examinations. Coordinates all School of Nursing (SON) assessment and evaluation functions; oversees processes associated with curriculum assessment and evaluation; and manages program outcomes evaluation processes for the SON.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, clinical supervision/direction, and service.
Position Qualifications: The minimum qualifications are a doctorate from an accredited institution, with a BSN or MSN degree. The position requires that the candidate has an unencumbered nursing license in the State of Florida or is eligible for licensure in Florida. Prior successful experience in a leadership role with CCNE accreditation at the bachelor’s and master’s degree levels is required. Five years nursing faculty experience at a CCNE accredited institution. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in curriculum development, assessment and evaluation. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with varying deadlines. Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to interact professionally with others.
Preferred Qualifications A doctoral degree, from an accredited institution, in education or nursing education with a focus on curriculum and instructional design is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership ability in Nursing education. Additionally, experience with implementing continuous quality improvements processes for academic outcomes and experience with NCLEX preparation is desired.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 20% - Administrative accountability for accreditation of degree granting programs. Collaborates with the SON Director to develop and execute a plan for the accreditation of programs and state approval processes. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Work with faculty on continuous improvement of curriculum, including outcome evaluation. Provide direction, leadership and advice to faculty, staff and administrators on design, implementation and maintenance of assessment processes focused on curriculum and program outcomes and other measures of institutional effectiveness. Coordinate the systematic review and evaluation of the curriculum and program assessment, including the development and monitoring of outcomes and plans of action for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes and plans. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Monitors program data and reports regularly to the Director of the School of Nursing and the Dean of the College. Oversees data collection processes to ensure data integrity and consistency for external reports (e.g., U.S. News, Florida Center for Nursing, UWF annual reports, and AACN/CCNE). - (Essential)
  • 15% - Oversees and evaluates student preparation for, and performance on, NCLEX examination and national certification exams (e.g. FNP). - (Essential)
  • 30% - Maintain personal academic faculty obligations in teaching and service in accordance with area of expertise. Participates ex-officio on the undergraduate and graduate curriculum and assessment committees to advise about assessment and evaluation needs and processes. Chairs the Program Effectiveness Committee for the SON. - (Essential)
