About the RoleIn this senior role, you will form part of the Sustainability and Environmental Planning Unit who are responsible for a range of strategies and programs to assist the region to become an environmentally sustainable city.
You will lead the delivery of environmental sustainability strategies, projects and programs, along with the implementation of the Climate Change Response Plan. You will develop and deliver sustainability and climate change strategies and programs, including initiatives to reduce greenhouse emissions and climate change risks, lead community partnership programs and seek funding opportunities.
Lead and assist the delivery of community partnership projects.
Lead the delivery of environmental sustainability community grants programs.
Assist in the implementation of Council’s Environment Management Strategy.Apply for and project manage grants to support corporate and community emissions reductions and adaptation programs.
Represent the City of Greater Geelong on the regional alliances and community networks.
About youTo be successful in this role, you will be an experienced communication and engagement professional, with a solid understanding of sustainability and climate change. You will have a high level of patience and resilience, a continuous improvement mindset and be strategic in your thinking around the way you work and prioritisation of your work.
An ability to generate community awareness and enthusiasm for environmental sustainability programs.
Knowledge of local government’s role and responsibility relating to environment and sustainability.
Sound understanding of best-practice project management methodologies, developed predominantly within the areas of environmental sustainability.
Theoretical and scientific approach to sustainability issues; searches for opportunities or solutions to problems that have not previously been encountered.
Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in the field of environmental sustainability.
