About the Role
In this role you will be working in the Waste Management team and will assist and support the Team Leader Waste Contract Management in the management of the City’s Waste Management Services contracts and associated activities including, but not limited to:

  • The waste, recyclables and green waste kerbside collection service
  • The hard waste collection service
  • The receiving and processing of recyclables
  • The Douro Street, North Geelong Resource Recovery Centre.

You will also supervise and provide day to day oversight and support to the contract management customer support team to ensure the provision of an effective high performing monitoring and resolution process for service delivery issues within the City’s waste management services. As well as assisting with the management of planning referrals that require waste management assessment, you will also play a key role in the development and implementation of new waste contracts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing assistance and support for the effective contract management of the Waste Services contracts and associated activities.
  • Attending the relevant contract management meetings and having the ability to chair the meeting in the absence of the Team Leader Waste Contract Management.
  • Supervising the Contracts Support Officers and Field Officer to manage the provision of a high level of customer service to resolve service delivery issues within Council’s waste management services.
  • Providing key input and recording of data and also be able to drive the development of systems and service delivery improvement.
  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of a suite of management reports that supports the day to day management of the contracts, contractor performance and customer service.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or sufficient practical experience to enable the applicant to be able to successfully undertake the role.
  • Demonstrated contract management skills and experience relating to service type contracts including large contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of judgement to enable quality decision making in the management of contracts and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with a range of stakeholders (both external and internal) to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communications, consultation and negotiation skills, including the ability to successfully negotiate and resolve conflicts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member and leader of a team, often working to strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in occupational health and safety.

Desirable 

  • Demonstrated business administrative skills including budget development and monitoring and financial management.
  • Experience in Local Government environment.
