About the Capital Projects Department
This department is part of our City Services Division, and is the delivery arm responsible for creating diverse infrastructure that ensures the municipality is a thriving, inclusive and sustainable place to be.

About the Role
This position implements, and drives projects focused around Emergency Management functions and fire safety initiatives in order to engage communities, build community resilience and enhance council’s capacity in emergency management.

This is a temporary part-time position working 64 hours per fortnight for 12 months.

Some of the key responsibilities in this role, will include:

  1. Developing project plans including action plans and targeted milestones.
  2. Engaging and collaborating with communities in high fire danger areas through targeted workshops to identify community preparedness and challenges.
  3. Coordinating and facilitating training programs and workshops related to emergency management and fire prevention.
  4. Working closely with emergency service agencies and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  5. Developing project deliverables including identified gap analysis, reference guides, evaluation reports, workplans and continuous improvement plans;
  6. Monitoring project budgets and reporting to supervisors through established reporting mechanisms.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in Community Development and Emergency Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes in partnership with the community.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of community engagement initiatives in an emergency management context.
  • Experience in delivering engaging training and/or workshops.
  • Excellent communication skills including persuasive oral and written skills.
  • Ability to analyse community needs and adapt to diverse and changing role requirements.
