About the City Development Department
This department is part of our Planning, Design and Development Division, and is responsible for the provision of information, advice and assistance regarding municipal building services, planning permits, planning scheme amendments and rezoning.

About the Role
This position provides effective and efficient technical support to assist the Building Services team while ensuring the highest level of customer service is achieved.

There are two permanent full-time positions available.

Some of the key responsibilities in this role will include:

  1. Assisting with the processing of building permits and governance compliance matters within prescribed time frames.
  2. Preparing routine correspondence in relation to decisions and enquiries from the public.
  3. Providing clients with a professional and up-to-date advisory service and assisting the public with enquiries.
  4. Maintaining appropriate administrative and information systems for the efficient and effective operation of the Unit.
  5. Assisting with the implementation of a program of inspections and field investigations to assist clients and to ensure fair and proper compliance with relevant legislation and policy.
  6. Establishing positive communications with clients and the general public to educate and promote the need for adherence to various statutes, legislation, local laws and policies.
  7. Receiving telephone calls and enquiries and providing advice to internal and external customers in accordance with policy and guidelines
  8. Identifying, implementing and reviewing strategies to improve service quality.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Demonstrated experience and skill in customer service
  • Strong administrative experience and skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret building legislation and practices and associated legislation.
  • Well-developed communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Well-developed time management skills.
