The Department of Bioengineering, College of Engineering, seeks a Laboratory Research Technician to support projects for developing novel optical microscopy technologies to investigate cerebral physiology and pathophysiology in preclinical rodent models. This position entails assistance with development and utilization of novel optical microscopy instrumentation and assisting with the development of novel data analysis tools. The employee will be heavily involved with routine imaging experiments and research project management. Responsibilities include setting up daily experiments, assistance with conducting the experiments, maintaining the work space, storing and organizing data files, and performing data analysis. Candidates must maintain detailed laboratory notes on a regular basis, maintain instruments and laboratory equipment as assigned, and assist with inventory of research supplies.The employee will also perform animal handling and surgery, assist with ordering supplies, assist in laboratory and animal room organization, and organize/draft material for the preparation of presentations and publications.
