The Department of Liberal Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2024 to teach LING 355 – Heritage Languages and Heritage Speakers. The course introduces students to the linguistic and cultural properties of heritage languages, which are acquired in the home and later supplanted by the dominant language of the community. Students will investigate phonological, morphological, and syntactic properties of heritage languages, the relationship between language and identity, the role of motivation in language re-learning, of bilingualism on cognition, and the role of family, community and public policy on language maintenance.
Lecturer - LING 351: Language Acquisition (Fall 2024) San Marcos
The Department of Liberal Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2024 to teach LING 351 - Language Acquisition. The course is a general introduction to the study of language development examining current issues and linguistic theories of language acquisition, including those related to cognitive and cultural development, and the effects of sociolinguistic factors, such as gender and socioeconomic status, on language acquisition. Psychological & Learning Disabilities Specialist (Full-Time, Temporary) San Marcos
The Disability Support Services (DSS) Office at California State University San Marcos is looking to hire a non-tenure track Student Services Professional, Academic-Related III with a working title of Psychological & Learning Disabilities Specialist. This position is responsible for providing disability related counseling and crisis management, confidential counseling to students, accommodation and substitution determination and case management services to enrolled students with documented disabilities. The position will also act a resource person to the campus community in providing information and instruction on how to effectively work with students with disabilities in the postsecondary environment.
