Visiting Faculty - Biological Sciences AY 2026/27 San Marcos
California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) invites applications for a non-renewable one-year visiting assistant professor of Biology to begin August 2026. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Molecular/Cellular Biology or a closely related field. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in neurobiology, including developmental, cellular, or molecular neuroscience and those that can teach our pre-health courses. Candidates must be committed to contributing to an undergraduate-centered, pedagogically innovative, and modern research-integrated biology degree program.

The Department of Art, Media, and Design at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach AMD 380-10: Graphic Design 2 – Intermediate Visual Communication Studio. This is an intermediate studio course that meets on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 11:50 a.m. The course builds upon foundational principles of visual communication and introduces students to more structured conceptual thinking, typographic systems, and multi-platform design applications. Students engage in research-driven design processes, iterative development, critique, and craft-based production while strengthening professional workflows and presentation skills. Emphasis is placed on developing cohesive visual systems across formats, understanding audience engagement, and refining design decisions for clarity, usability, and meaning. The course prepares students for upper-division studio work through increased rigor in methodology, production standards, and conceptual development. Course activities include lectures, demonstrations, screenings, discussions, critiques, weekly exercises, and project-based studio work.

The Department of Physics at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PHYS 102: Intro to Physics II. The course is an overview of the principles of electricity and magnetism, light and optics, and modern physics. The areas covered include: electric charge, electric fields, electric potential, DC circuits, magnetism, magnetic fields, geometrical and physical optics, and atomic and nuclear physics.
