The Department of Art, Media, and Design at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Summer 2024 to teach AMD 333: Visual Culture Studies. This course is online asynchronous from 6/3/24 - 8/10/24.  The course introduces theories of visual culture, ways of seeing, and practices of looking. Focuses on objects of visual culture including art, objects of mass/consumer culture, as well as photography and design in journalism and advertising. Explores the importance of critical media literacy in contemporary society and the roles that images play in developing a sense of self. Addresses grammar of visual design, practice, and creative use of images in developing a visual glossary. Develops ability to analyze images critically. Successful candidates will demonstrate in depth knowledge of cultural studies.
Psychological & Learning Disabilities Specialist (Full-Time, Temporary) San Marcos
The Disability Support Services (DSS) Office at California State University San Marcos is looking to hire a non-tenure track Student Services Professional, Academic-Related III with a working title of Psychological & Learning Disabilities Specialist. This position is responsible for providing disability related counseling and crisis management, confidential counseling to students, accommodation and substitution determination and case management services to enrolled students with documented disabilities. The position will also act a resource person to the campus community in providing information and instruction on how to effectively work with students with disabilities in the postsecondary environment. In addition, the position will be responsible for developing and implementing academic accommodations to best support our identified students with mental health impairments and those with ASD enrolled in our DSS program.
