Department

The School of Accountancy in the College of Business and Economics and Division of Academic Affairs is seeking an exceptional individual to join their team as the School of Accountancy Coordinator I (Administrative Support Coordinator I). This pivotal position will support the academic and administrative functions of the school and its center and labs, contributing to the success of both students and faculty within the dynamic field of accountancy. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Director, the Coordinator provides administrative and coordination support for the School of Accountancy in the College of Business and Economics (CBE), which often involves coordinating, prioritizing, and monitoring with accountability for end results.

The Department of Accountancy became a School of Accountancy in 2021-2022. The school has the distinction of being one of approximately fifty schools of accountancy that are separately accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The Administrative Support Coordinator I ensures data collection, plans, and coordinates the assessment activities performed each semester. Supports the write up of the AACSB accreditation report. Organizes committee action plans, strategic plans, and monitors the action plans of the school. Provides support for AACSB accreditation report and data collection as required. Ensures the tracking of faculty event attendance for AACSB purpose. Reviews policies and procedures related to AACSB accreditation.

The Analytics Lab, established in 2022-2023, serves as a data analytics and IT resource center for 3,500 students each year. The Administrative Support Coordinator I supports activities for the lab including coordinating schedules of the assistants and support with events organized by the lab such as datathons and guest speakers. Maintains budget, provides clerical support, financial support, and event planning for the Center for Corporate Reporting and Governance (CCRG) and Analytical Lab, including planning large national conferences and new research bulletins and webinars. With minimal supervision from CCRG Directors, performs the administrative work for the center, assists with the hiring of CCRG and Analytical labs student workers and oversight of their work, coordinates annual meeting/CCRG Board meetings, organizes events, supports fund raising activities, and maintains the budget for the Center.

Responsible for preparing hospitality forms, travel documentation, invoices, scholarships payments, and other documents. Supports faculty by processing grade changes, issuing registration permits, reproducing course materials and exams, and coordinating textbook orders. Participates in all departmental events and projects, including Student Success projects. Updates and maintains webpages. Provides customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. Works with CBE marketing and communications team to update and maintain social media platforms. Responsible for compiling and distributing the annual report. Assists with student clubs. Provides administrative back-up support to the Administrative Support Coordinator II. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

High School diploma or the equivalent and two years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work or the equivalent. Training at a vocational school or full-time college education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis. Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology, systems, and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage budget-related responsibilities, including monitoring expenditures, reconciling accounts, tracking financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with established fiscal guidelines. Possess proficiency in mail merge functions and similar software tools to efficiently create, customize, and distribute high-volume communications and documents. Additionally, experience in planning and coordinating events is highly desirable, including managing logistics, scheduling, vendor coordination, communications, and on-site support to ensure successful execution of programs and events.

License/Certifications

A valid California driver’s license.
