Reporting to the Director of Student Health Services (SHS), the Nurse Practitioner works in the context of a group practice that emphasizes patient engagement over high volume. The incumbent reviews and interprets patient history; performs physical examinations; orders and reviews tests; evaluates, plans, and provides primary care predominantly for college students with common illnesses, injuries, seeking contraceptive care, or needing health maintenance. The incumbent collaborates with and guides the actions of Medical Assistants and Registered Nurses and some ancillary staff. The incumbent consults with other providers (psychiatrists) as needed and when health problems or conditions are not covered by protocols. The Nurse Practitioner enables improvement of both individual and team effectiveness by supporting the development and implementation of sustainable practices and protocols that foster student success and reflect the best of college health. |
