Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Solution Architect is required to design, develop and deliver high quality, cost effective and sustainable Integrated solutions that meet the needs of the business. The role will also provide high level, strategic advice and recommendations to the business in shaping solutions, based on their specialist expertise and experience. The role will develop policies, standards, frameworks and architectural roadmaps to guide the planning, selection, design and implementation of solutions and to support IT governance.
This role will build collaborative relationships with IT stakeholders, suppliers and teams in the divisions and faculties, to understand and effectively translate diverse business needs into sustainable IT solutions.
This role reports to the Lead Solution Architect and has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Solution and Enterprise Architects to ensure alignment with reference architectures and technology standards.
- Provide expert input for RFx development and evaluation.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to translate requirements into functional and logical designs.
- Contribute to architecture standards, methods, and processes aligned with business and cyber strategies.
- Design and guide implementation of secure, scalable solutions for strategic and BAU projects.
- Develop system architectures and detailed component designs using appropriate frameworks.
- Advise on system integration, ensuring compliance with technical and security standards.
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure optimal, fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Assess design options, manage risks, and ensure balanced system performance and quality.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification with 6+ years in IT, including 3+ in Solution Architecture.
- Strong system design and solution architecture capability.
- Experience with hybrid/cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and integration technologies (iPaaS, API Gateways, ETL, ESB).
- Knowledge of TOGAF, procurement processes, and delivery lifecycles.
- Understanding of the relationship between Solution and Enterprise Architecture.
- Strong grasp of cyber security standards and compliance in education.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams.
