Why your role matters
As part of the Educational Delivery team within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education (PVCE) portfolio, you’ll support the management and enhancement of UNSW’s centrally managed learning spaces — from lecture theatres and classrooms to hybrid-capable and collaborative environments. Your work will ensure these spaces align with UNSW’s Future Campus guidelines, meet pedagogical and accessibility standards, and enhance the learning experience for students and academics alike.
In this dynamic role, you’ll contribute to projects that advance hybrid learning, AI-enabled teaching spaces, digital integration, and inclusive design. Collaborating closely with AV, IT, Estate Management, and external vendors, you’ll help deliver innovative, fit-for-purpose environments that support cutting-edge teaching practices. You’ll engage directly with academics and faculties to understand their needs, coordinate stakeholder input, and oversee user testing, evaluation, and feedback to ensure every space is future-ready and designed for impact.
You’ll also play an active part in promoting effective use of learning technologies through the creation of resources, training materials, and practical support for their integration into teaching. Reporting to the Project Manager, Learning Environments, this role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to UNSW’s strategic vision while developing your expertise in educational innovation and project delivery.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Assist in the development of operational plans for learning space innovation. Contribute to project scoping documents, aligning initiatives with emerging pedagogical needs and UNSW’s broader education strategy.
- Support academic staff through training, resource development, and ongoing assistance to ensure effective adoption and use of hybrid teaching tools and practices.
- Develop, maintain and update digital support resources (e.g., user guides, quick-start guides, video resources) for new and existing technologies to support teaching practices across formal and informal learning spaces.
About You:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in education, educational technology, information technology, project management or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and delivering projects in a complex environment, preferably within the higher education or technology sector. This includes the ability to develop project schedules, manage resources and budgets, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities using sound project management practices.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary educational technologies and learning space design principles. familiarity with LMS integrated tools (e.g., Moodle), audio-visual technology, and other teaching related digital platforms; and practical experience translating insights into innovative initiatives for rollout across formal and informal learning spaces.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Proven ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a complex environment – including academic staff, professional/facilities staff, IT specialists, Estate Management and students – and to convey technical or complex information clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Sharp analytical skills and a proactive problem-solving approach. Ability to assess educational and technical needs, identify improvements or innovative solutions, and troubleshoot issues in both physical spaces and digital systems. Capable of gathering and interpreting data to inform decision-making and project adjustments.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills. Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, work independently with minimal supervision, and deliver outcomes in a timely manner while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- A strong collaborative mindset with the ability to work productively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience building positive working relationships across different units or departments and facilitating cooperation to achieve shared project goals.
- Experience liaising with external suppliers or service providers and knowledge of procurement processes. Ability to write or contribute to technical specifications, evaluate vendor proposals, and manage contracts to ensure deliverables are met and value for money is achieved.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for emerging technologies and pedagogies (e.g. interest in AI-driven educational tools or new classroom technologies) and a commitment to continuous improvement. Willingness to stay informed about trends in learning space design and digital education, and the ability to quickly learn and champion new tools or methods.
- An understanding of inclusive practice and accessibility principles in educational settings (physical and digital), with a commitment to supporting equity, diversity and inclusion in the student learning experience.
