Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Business Analyst will analyze and define requirements and functionality for information systems and other solutions to meet the Finance Division’s business needs. The focus of this role is to work closely with the key business stakeholders to gain understanding of processes, services, roadmap, and documenting capabilities needed to address business challenges.
The position provides analysis services through formal projects within the finance change program (Ignite) and continuous improvement opportunities across Finance, with the aim of enabling the Finance Division to improve its processes and develop its business. In addition, the Senior Business Analyst leads the planning of business analysis engagements and is accountable for the quality of business analysis outcomes on specific engagements.
This position reports to the Business Analyst Lead, EPMO and there are no direct reports
Responsibilities Summary:
- Provide leadership, guidance, advice and business analysis quality assurance to the team assigned to the project which the Business Analyst has a role.
- During project initiation, recommend an appropriate business analysis approach, toolsets and deliverables to be adapted by the system/project owner(s).
- Investigate, analyse and document business processes and the underlying business model for a system or process area and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Actively support the solutioning of best practice continuous improvement opportunities. This will span the Finance Division (FC&C, FP&A, Finance Business Partnering, Finance Systems, Operations & Continuous Improvement, Hubs, Treasury Investments & Insurance).
- Liaise and manage external vendor relationships that provide support with queries and enhancement quotes, development delivery, testing and change management into production.
- Produce and deliver project documentation (including but not limited to, business cases, business requirements, project plans, user acceptance plans, status updates including Steering committee papers, closure documentation) and tailor this for audiences with an array of technical understanding.
- For project engagements, develop the functional designs and specifications for particular processes or services.
- Proactively identify and document possible software improvement areas using a gap analysis methodology.
- Identifying issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outlining business impacts and estimate cost and business savings.
- Provide strategic and specialist advice and recommendations on projects to the Director of Operational Finance as required, ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed of project status and updates.

Skills and Experience Summary:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance or a relevant discipline, such as CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent) and relevant professional sector experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in finance with strong understanding of finance procedures and processes
- Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering projects as a Business Analyst
- Substantial experience in business systems analysis or equivalent business experience, including well-developed business and needs analysis skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of project management methods, tools and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Demonstrated experience in agile ways of working and the ability to drive adoption within team.
- Knowledge and competency in the use of professional business analysis techniques and methods (e.g. Use Case Analysis, UML).
- Well-developed skills in the use of standard office toolsets including word processors, spreadsheets, drawing/diagramming tools (e.g. Visio), presentation tools (e.g. PowerPoint) and project management tools (e.g. MS Project).
- Previous experience working in an ERP application development environment (either PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP or similar) and/or a web services environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to success in providing effective solutions to business needs.
- Proven ability to show initiative with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative and multifaceted team.
- Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to establish effective working relationships
