UNSW Law is supported by 60 professional and technical staff who provide management and support in teaching, research, finance and student administration.


About the role

  • $106,711 – $120,233 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
  • Continuing appointment
  • Full-time (35 hours per week)

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Educational Designer to play a leadership role in the ongoing delivery of technology-enabled teaching and strategically embed blended learning systematically across programs in UNSW Law.

The Educational Designer reports directly to the Education Support Manager and works closely with the Associate Dean (Education).  

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Working with the Associate Dean (Education) to deliver the University’s Scientia Educational Experience as outlined in the UNSW Strategy.
  • Working with the Associate Dean (Education) and the Education Support Manager in the development and implementation of comprehensive e-learning policies and processes to provide UNSW Law with efficient access to, and understanding of, the University’s Learning Management Systems.
  • Designing and developing e-learning resources for use in a range of courses and programs in conjunction with the Associate Dean (Education), the Director of Learning and Teaching, Head of School, and Education Support Manager.
  • Designing, evaluating and providing training and tools for staff in the use of educational technologies and applications that support online learning and teaching at UNSW in conjunction with the Associate Dean (Education).
  • Providing expert, customer-focussed advice on e-learning policies and procedures as well as designing, developing and reviewing policy, protocols, procedures and support relating to learning, leadership and curricula in both face-to-face and virtual learning environments.

 

Specific requirements include:

  • Relevant qualifications and extensive experience working in an academic learning and teaching environment, or in the development of learning and teaching, or an equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience gained through a combination of qualifications and work experience.
  • Demonstrated high level strategic and technical support to critically evaluate new and emerging e-learning technologies, and identify avenues to innovation and improvement in current practices.
  • Experience in designing and developing e-learning content and blended learning solutions for training materials and web-based resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use and integration of educational technologies and media in curriculum design and digital content/resources (such as Smart Sparrow), including web-based learning management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and external stakeholders at all levels, and the ability to effectively explain complex technical concepts to people from non-IT backgrounds.
