    About the Opportunity

    Reporting to the Technical Learning & Development, Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for analysing specific competency-based courses and determining how technology can be used to enhance and facilitate a more blended learning delivery. This role is also responsible for researching and advising on appropriate technologies for delivering content, identifying any security, ethical and legal considerations and the feasibility of the recommended approach.

    Working as part of the P&C Team, and supported by a broader learning & development, this role is responsible for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of blended learning initiatives to increase capability, drive high performance and improve culture across the business. This includes developing training materials to ensure trainees are safe, confident and proficient with their role responsibilities and that compliance, regulatory, safety, organisational and other obligations are met.

    The Instructional Design Specialist plays an integral role in the successful development and implementation of contemporary learning and development practices and solutions to support the skill and competency development needs of the customer. With superior skills in communication, instructional design and a strong customer focus, the incumbent will have proven success working in a technical organisation.

    This 2 year, Fixed Term contract is based from our Osborne, SA headquarters, working under a hybrid model.

    Responsibilities

    Learning program and tool development

    • Redesign existing courses to a student-centred, partially blended online delivery method.
    • Work with subject matter experts to understand target audience training needs and ensure relevancy of content, scenarios, assessments etc.
    • Research alternative methods and techniques of training technology and blended training delivery.
    • Design and develop effective and engaging digital learning assets for classroom, online and blended delivery to support learning needs.
    • Design/storyboard supporting eLearning material/media (using audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.) for eLearning modules.

    Project management/ Stakeholder engagement

    • Apply end-to-end training project management skills from analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of projects.
    • Maintain project documentation and course materials, keeping all content accurate, organized and relevant.
    • Use appropriate project management tools such as Jira to provide visibility to projects and track progress of work.
    • Acquire and apply new technology skills and innovative practices to instructional design.
    • Provide timely stakeholder updates on progress of training projects to ensure needs are met.

     Desirable competencies and experiences

    • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) and/or Diploma of Training Design and Development (TAE50216)
    • Minimum of 3- 5 years’ experience in Learning Design or closely related field
    • Proficient user of Articulate, Storyline, Microsoft office and LMS i.e.: Moodle, Blackboard, Totara or similar.
    • Practiced Instructional Designer with expertise in developing and designing blended learning programs in corporate, engineering or operational environments
    • Experience working in a national, multi-site technical organization would be advantageous with the ability to communicate across a broad customer base
    • Ability to understand learning needs and develop tailored, flexible solutions for face to face, eLearning or other blended delivery techniques to effectively meet the needs of the customer.
    • Excellent visual design skills with the ability to develop storyboards create and maintain eLearning programs.
    • Experienced at developing communication tools, programs and guides to support trainees and instructors through blended learning programs.

    Eligibility and Requirements

    The successful candidate must provide ASC with a current National Police Clearance prior as well as be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance, part of this eligibility requirement includes Australian Citizenship.  Access protected US Defence Technology will be taken into account in assessing an applicant's suitability for this role.
