About the Opportunity
The People and Culture Advisor will provide a business focused operational People and Culture service, providing advice and support to employees and managers on People and Culture related matters, managing employee relations cases, job evaluation and on-boarding for new employees, probation reviews, contractor changes and relocation for employees. The role will support the P&C Business Partners to deliver the operational plan in line with the People and Culture Game Plan.
The People and Culture Advisor will be proactive in resolving People and Culture related situations while driving best practice outcomes and ensuring compliance with Company policies, procedures and employment legislation.
They will also contribute to a positive people culture that values continuous improvement and develops new processes and procedures in line with the Company’s focus on ‘Lean’ thinking.
This role is a 12 month Fixed Term contract, open to candidates in both Osborne, SA and Henderson, WA.
Responsibilities
- Provide People and Culture related guidance and support to the employees and managers across the business including performance management, succession planning, employment management, on boarding, retention, career development, learning and development, and organisational culture
- Assist and support the P&C Business Partner/s in the event of disputes, industrial action or interaction with Fair Work Australia
- Provide expert and timely advice on matters relating to employee relations and workforce capability
- Support the implementation of ASC’s operational people strategies in line with direction from the P&C Business Partner and P&C Operations Manager
- Support the enhancement of ASC’s on boarding processes to suit the applicable business portfolio
- Support P&C Business Partner activities ensuring effective support to business occurs in accordance with ASC’s strategic direction and People and Culture Policy
- Undertake investigations regarding gross misconduct, bullying and harassment and other identified issues
- Train and support Managers in how to use the PES system
- Assist with formal employee grievances and disputes and manage exit interview process and record data
- Manage employment change documentation, promotions, departments, titles.
- Manage maternity and Parental leave and non-standard leave
- Track probation reviews and set up calendar invites as reminders
- Review suitability for ongoing employment during probation
- Coordinate immigration and relocations for employees
- Manage fixed term employment contracts register and data
- Coordinate Induction for own P&C team members
- Support the P&C Business Partner/s to review and adjust ASC’s People and Culture policies, processes and systems to meet the business needs.
- Oversee People and Culture Administrative tasks to ensure they are completed in a timely manner
About you
To be part of a motivated team this role requires the successful candidate to have previous experience working in a People and Culture team. You will have organisational awareness, motivation and a high level of integrity and resilience whilst being customer oriented. Together with your excellent communication skills in an engaging and inclusive style you will have the ability to see the bigger picture, and be confident in working amongst a team through a collaborative approach in order to deliver best People & Culture services.
Desirable competencies and experiences
- People and Culture related Business Degree or Diploma
- Demonstrated understanding in Performance management, Employee relations, Award and EBA interpretation
- Understanding of the Fair Work Act and the National Employment Standards
- Ability to effectively explore issues and develop successful solutions
- Ability to manage employee grievances and coach leaders through resolutions
- Skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship development abilities
- Ability to influence applicable internal and external stakeholders
- Experience working in a diverse environment with teams located in alternative States
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrable high EQ
Eligibility and Requirements
The successful candidate must provide ASC with a current National Police Clearance prior as well as be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance, part of this eligibility requirement includes Australian Citizenship. Access protected US Defence Technology will be taken into account in assessing an applicant's suitability for this role.
