    As an ASC apprentice you will enjoy challenging and rewarding work that contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of the Collins Class fleet of submarines to the Royal Australian Navy. It is a highly regarded introduction into a career in the defence industry.     We are currently offering apprenticeship opportunities within our Adelaide and Perth based operations, across the following trade disciplines for our 2022/23 intake program:

    • Fabrication
    • Mechanical
    • Electrical

     

    Why ASC?

    Our 4 year program will offer you the opportunity to gain experience across many different systems and departments, such as control systems, propulsion, weaponry/combat systems and more.

    You will work closely with engineers, the wider production team, navy personnel and other various departments throughout the business.

    Once qualified, you will have the opportunity to support our operations in various locations across the globe as the needs arise.

    What makes a strong applicant?

    Our successful applicants will possess:

    • Strengths in STEM studies and/or Trade Studies
    • Relevant work experience is favourable
    • Completion of a Certificate II in a relevant trade study (not mandatory)

    Overall, a strong commitment to safety, passion for what your desired trade/line of work and willingness to adapt quickly and learn new things. We love to hear all about these topics in your cover letter.

    Eligibility and Requirements

    Australian Citizenship is a mandatory requirement. You will need to be eligible to obtain a National Police Clearance and upon commencement, an Australian Defence Security Clearance.

    A valid Australian Drivers Licence is also an essential requirement to carry out this role successfully.

    ASC also requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our people. ASC will also adhere to any relevant health directives that may be made that affects our workforce.

    What next?

    Once you have submitted your details and applications have closed;

    1. Your application will be reviewed by a member of our recruitment team
    2. Successful applications will be forwarded to members of our trade/production review panel
    3. From there, successful applicants will be contacted for a short phone screen
    4. If you are identified to proceed to the next step, this will include an invitation to our assessment centre which will include a range of fun and interactive tasks that will allow us to assess a range of competencies
    5. Those who ace the assessment centre will be invited to a face to face interview
    6. Next steps for those who advance from interview stage is our Pre-Employment phase
    7. Final step – offer of employment!
