About the Opportunity
To support our growing team, the WHSE Specialist will be responsible for leading the design and development of industry best practice in WHSE management systems, processes and tools to support delivery of the overall WHSE strategy.
The WHSE Specialist will support the continuous improvement and proactive effort from the broader WHSE function, to design and develop systems, and tools and drive governance across all capability groups at ASC. This role will also support with our System vendor relationships and design improvements to reduce information overlap and support digital transformation at ASC. Candidates that desire growth and demonstrate leadership qualities, can-do attitude and willingness and passion in driving improvements in WHSE will be highly regarded to support future growth and opportunities within the team.
This Permanent role is open for candidates in Osborne, SA or Henderson, WA.
Responsibilities
- Acting as a leader, coach and facilitator this role will drive collaboration with the broader WHSE function and assurance groups within ASC
- Assist in building a WHSE coaching capability and capacity
- Lead improvement projects aligned to strategic WHSE outcomes using appropriate change management principles
- Support and contribute to a positive people culture that values continuous improvement and support design, development and review systems, processes and procedures in line with the Company’s focus on ‘Lean’ thinking
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in workplace health and safety management, environmental science, engineering or equivalent and/or
- Up to 5 years of experience in a similar role or senior WHSE role
- Desire to expand knowledge of WHSE and grow as a leader
- Advanced understanding of WHSE legislations and management systems
- Ability to problem solve and apply analytical thinking
- Ability to lead strategic WHSE improvement projects
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable competencies and experiences
- Superior comprehension of Work Health and Safety and Environment Legislation and application of relevant standards
- Experience in driving improvement initiatives, analytical skills, workflow design and governance
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly MS Project and MS Excel) and basic understanding of digital systems in WHSE
- Demonstrate strong ability to collaborate with a whole of team approach
- Demonstrate high level of integrity and resilience

Eligibility and Requirements
The successful candidate must provide ASC with a current National Police Clearance prior as well as be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Part of this eligibility requirement includes Australian Citizenship and ability to be cleared and eligible to access protected US Defence Technology. Clearances will be taken into account in assessing an applicant's suitability for this role.
