Provides supervision and instruction to students seeking a career as an EMT or paramedic, participates in program planning, and is responsible for design and implementation of the EMT training program for SOWELA, other LCTCS schools, and colleagues. Responsible for teaching students through field learning, skills, laboratory, and in a class or hybrid class. Maintains accurate grade and attendance records. Maintains individual student progress data and ensures this is a part of the student’s permanent record. Adheres to all laws pertaining to disclosure of student records. Be available to students via email, phone and/or in person conference. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks related to instruction, lab projects, and training. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Receives training or stays current in clinical training advances that promote student learning.

Using various instructional techniques, approved maintenance practices, and the FAA Airman Certification Standards (ACS), teach students how to inspect, maintain, and repair aircraft and helicopter systems. Responsible for adhering to guidance and legal requirements from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE), and other accreditation authorities, to maintain certification as an FAA 14 CFR Part 147 maintenance school. Prepares relevant and engaging lesson plans, presentations, and assessments ensuring students of various learning styles successfully complete the FAA A & P certification.
