Duties and Responsibilities: 

Program management:
• Manages the daily operations and ensures compliance with federal guidelines and regulations.
• Successfully plans and implements program services and activities to improve the educational outcomes of participants.
• Develops annual budget and allocates all expenses to appropriate funding sources; review financial reports monthly—at a minimum—to monitor and suggest allocation adjustments as needed throughout the year.
• Develops comprehensive academic and support services to ensure increased college access and student success.
Outreach services:
• Serves as program advocate and liaison to internal and external constituents.
• Coordinates outreach recruitment activities to increase enrollment and program awareness.
• Works collaboratively with others to help provide a student-centered environment that encourages increased college access and student success.
• Provides on-going professional development/training on policies and procedures that impact academic advising and academic support services to department staff, divisional staff, faculty, students, and administrator.
• Develops and disseminates flyers, brochures, and web content regarding program services, goals, objectives, successes, and outcomes.
Case management:
• Provides intrusive advising, counseling, mentoring, and support services to participants.
• Monitors academic progress, persistence, and retention of program participants.
• Works cooperatively with other offices to ensure the successful delivery of support services to participants.
Staff supervision:
• Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates all program staff.
• Advises team on technical issues regarding the successful and timely completion of daily work, providing constructive feedback and coaching.
• Ensures staff receive, review, and adhere to all policies, guidelines, and regulations issued by SLCC, the State of Louisiana, and the U.S. Department of Education.
Program compliance:
• Schedules and leads regular implementation meetings with internal departments to discuss the progress of compliance plans, expectations, and deliverables.
• Integrates compliance requirements in the development, maintenance, and implementation of program policies and procedures.
• Collaborate sin preparation for external monitoring visits, reviews, and audits, and cross-site evaluations and participate as appropriate.
• Conducts routine compliance reviews of electronic and hard copy files to be used for tracking and reporting purposes.
• Submits monthly, quarterly, semester, and annual compliance and performance reports.
• Adheres to applicable federal, state, and local laws, policies, and regulations in order to meet recruitment and contractual performance goals.
Administrative activities:
• Predictable and reliable attendance is required in order to provide consistency and continuity of services.
• Provides outstanding customer services to all internal and external customers.
• Attends professional development conferences, trainings, workshops, and meetings.
• Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.


Required Education: 

Master's degree in counseling, education, communication, public administration, leadership, or related field.


Required Experience: 

Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with program development, management, and budgeting
Previous experience developing and implementing TRIO programs or programs serving disadvantaged adult populations similar to TRIO


Required Licenses or Certifications: 

Active, unencumbered driver’s license


Preferred Experience: 

- Three to five years of work experience managing a federal grant funded program
- Knowledgeable of EDGAR and OMB regulations as it relates to the program
- Supervisory and management experience at a post-secondary institution
- First-hand experience overcoming barriers such as those that affect EOC participants


Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.
